About Us

Scappoose Adventist School (SAS) is a Preschool through 8th grade Christian school. In reality, we think of ourselves more as a close community made up of students, teachers, families, and staff. We serve a diverse population and welcome students of all faiths and ethnic backgrounds who are open to an opportunity to have Christ and the teachings of the Bible as part of their education.

SAS is state accredited and the teaching staff is certified. Low student-to-teacher ratios and multi-grade classrooms, such as those enjoyed at SAS, are seen by many educators to offer an ideal learning environment for children. SAS is committed to academic excellence and creating opportunities for hands-on learning.

Our small school offers many opportunities for the children to relate to one another in a family-like atmosphere, where each child is seen as an individual. Multi-grade classrooms enhance children learning to help one another.

SAS welcomes parent involvement in the school and encourages parents to participate as classroom volunteers. We have an active Home & School Association that accomplishes amazing things throughout the school year including; planning special events, fundraising, planning field trips and more.

Our Mission

The Creator’s design is for “whole person” development – Spiritual, Mental, Physical, and Emotional.

Scappoose Adventist School is:

  • Spiritually focused

  • Academically rigorous

  • Service-oriented

Our Vision

The Scappoose Adventist School community inspires students to love learning, to develop a spiritual nature, to communicate effectively, to be kind to others, and to respect the uniqueness of each person.

The longer your child attends SAS, the more they will demonstrate:

  • A Spirit-filled life with service acts toward others

  • Academic excellence and critical thinking skills

  • Leadership through personal gifts and abilities

  • Integrity-based decisions and healthy choices

Our History

The Scappoose Adventist School was built in 1935 by the Scappoose-St. Helens Adventist Church. Since then, SAS has provided child-centered education to Columbia County residents.
